MAHARLIKAN MOVEMENT. The Pacific Ocean Islands to the Gulf Bayou.

Diaspora during the 16th Century.

 As early as the year 1793, sailors on trading ships from the islands of Luzon aboard Spanish Galleons jumped overboard and settled in the Bayou.region of Louisiana.
The migrating islander-settlers who were also fishermen became ocean shrimp harvesters in the Gulf Coast.
